When you are out walking in Carlsbad or Oceanside you may come across George Hood planking on the seawall or at Frazee Park  as he was this past Saturday. People often stop and ask him why he does it and George will tell you that he does it because he can! He does it in support of his fellow veterans who have fought for our country. He does it to raise money for The Semper Fi Fund also.”The Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, ensuring that they have the resources they need during their recovery and transition back to their communities. We work to ensure that no one is left behind.”

George Hood has been the holder of the world record plank before and he is gearing up to retake the record on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016.  This past Saturday was just a short practice plank of 6 hours, but on October 1st he unofficially broke the record with a plank of 8 hours and 15 minutes at Way of life bootcamp  George and his official record breaking plank will be part of the Veteran’s Day celebration aboard the USS Midway, on 11/11/2016 .

Come on down to the Midway on November 11 to celebrate our veterans and to cheer on our own George Hood to the record! Also if you see him planking at the beach, stop and say “hi!” He loves to meet people and it encourages him in his mission.
